ANALYSIS AND CONTROL OF DISTRIBUTED PARAMETER SYSTEMS: THE TUBULAR REACTOR CASE STUDY

Séance du jeudi 22 juin 2017, Salle L106, 14h00-16h00.

14h00-15h00 - Denis Dochain, Univeristé Catholique de Louvain, Belgique

Tubular reactor models are reference models in chemical engineering. They are also very rich models with respect to distributed parameter systems. First of all they cover two classes of partial differential equations : hyperbolic with the plug flow reactor model, and parabolic with the convective-diffusive-reaction model. It may be either linear or nonlinear.

The present seminar will present a number of results on the analysis (observability, controllability, sensor location, stability, equilibrium multiplicity) and control design of tubular reactor models, with a particular emphasis on the link with the well-known results in finite dimension.
